A Short Escape from Kathmandu? Well, there couldn’t be a better spot than the viral Heaven Dada, or as it’s originally called, Dhaireni Dada.
If you’re from Kathmandu, it’s just a few kilometers away, offering you the perfect opportunity to experience a peaceful Saturday, far from the city’s chaos.
Imagine enjoying a picnic with your friends while gazing at the beautiful Kathmandu Valley. Relaxed, embracing nature, and returning home as late as you want!
Let’s dive into what this place has to offer.
Key Facts About Dhaireni Dada (Heaven Dada)
| Location | Indrathan, Chandragiri, Kathmandu |
| Distance (from Kalanki) | 10–12 km |
| Modes of Transportation | Private vehicle or Public vehicle + Hiking |
| Best Time to Visit | All seasons |
How to Reach Dhaireni Dada?
There are multiple routes to get to Dhaireni Dada:
- Take a right from Nagdhunga (a little ahead of Baad Bhanjyang).
- Use the Dahachowk road (the shortest route).
- Take a right from the Naikap football ground and visit other attractions along the way.
We personally chose the third route, which allowed us to visit Switzerland Park, Kaji Kalu Pandey Dada & Memorial Park, and Indradaha.
If you’re a history enthusiast, don’t miss Kaji Kalu Pandey Memorial Park, which features his statue and cremation site.

Most visitors use private vehicles (both two-wheelers and four-wheelers), but we also met some who preferred hiking. If you’re up for it, take a public vehicle to Dahachowk and start your hike from there.
For a ride, it should take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your location in Kathmandu while a hike from Dahachowk lasts about an hour.
Pro Tip: When searching for this location on Google Maps, use “Dhaireni Dada” instead of “Heaven Dada,” or you might end up in Lalitpur! “Heaven Indrathan” should also work.
And keep in mind that there are several diversions along the uphill road. When in doubt, ask a local or a shopkeeper for directions.
Road Conditions to Dhaireni Dada
If you’ve seen scenic routes on social media, let me set the record straight—those scenic stretches last for only 200–300 meters.
Beyond that, it’s just a regular route, and honestly, nothing too thrilling about the ride. If you’re looking for more exciting rides, check out other destinations on our Short Trips page.

That said, Dhaireni Dada is a great choice if you’re short on time and need a quick escape.
The road is well-paved for the most part, with the final 5-minute stretch being slightly off-road. It’s manageable, though—just go for it!
What to Expect From Dhaireni Dada
One thing we absolutely loved about this place is the view. You can enjoy a beautiful peek into the valley, relax, and spend hours talking with your friends or loved ones
Speaking of loved ones, you’ll notice plenty of couples here. So yes, it could very well be your next dating spot!

But it’s equally suitable for a fun picnic with friends or family.
A Friendly Reminder: The place has a litter problem. Please carry your trash back home, and let’s hope the authorities take action soon.
Apart from the view and the picnic vibe, there isn’t much to do here. Keep your expectations realistic—it’s just a regular picnic spot, similar to many hill stations around Kathmandu.
Expected Budget
Because the destination is so close, you really don’t need to spend much—just your fuel cost! If your motorcycle or scooter has great mileage, it might be less than Rs. 100.
The only significant expense could be the snacks you bring along, which depends on your personal preferences.
However, do note that shops near the area might charge slightly higher prices. Try to bargain or simply come prepared with your own supplies (calling Ashika Tamang won’t help here—just kidding!).
Final Words
So, there you have it—Dhaireni Dada, aka Heaven Dada! A short escape and a perfect weekend spot for those in Kathmandu.
One thing worth mentioning is that if you’re interested in extending your trip, consider staying in the Indrathan region. There are a few resorts around, making it a potential weekend getaway.
Personally, I feel there are better spots near Kathmandu, but it’s still a good option if you’re short on time.
Alright then—keep supporting Travel Nepal Today. Happy travels to western Kathmandu!
