Tindhare Waterfall, famously known as the Bahubali Jharana, has probably been on your bucket list too—thanks to its viral presence on social media.
It’s located just about 70 km from the capital city in Roshi Rural Municipality, Kavre, making it a perfect spot for a weekend getaway.
Or, you can even visit and return on the same day, just like we did!
Follow along with this article, and I’ll provide you with all the details on how to get there and what to expect. Let’s dive in!

What to Expect From Tindhare Waterfall
‘Tindhare,’ which translates to “three streams,” is exactly as its name suggests. You can clearly see three large streams cascading from the top.

Let me also mention that Tindhare is part of the Roshi River, the same connected to the Panchakanya Waterfall that I discussed in a previous article.
You can climb to various parts of the waterfall to pose for pictures—just like I did.
Or, you can take a refreshing dip in the pond formed beneath one of the streams and enjoy bathing as much as you want.

During the monsoon/summer, when the water flow increases, the pond expands too—making it an added bonus for swimming enthusiasts!
Even if you’re not feeling adventurous, you can still take some stunning photos either on your way to the waterfall or once you’ve arrived.

However, I’m not sure why people have hyped it up as the “Bahubali Jharana.” Honestly, I didn’t find it resembling at all. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
How to Reach Tindhare Waterfall
Personally, I took my motorcycle for this trip—a fun ride with friends, covering three spots in one day!

Yes, you can easily plan this as part of a trip to Kavrepalanchowk. (Stay tuned for another guide on that soon.)
To get to Tindhare Waterfall, you’ll need a private vehicle. I did see a public vehicle on the way, but I’m not sure how far it goes.
Even if you manage to catch a public bus, you’ll still need to hike the remaining distance. For that reason, I recommend taking a bike or scooter for the trip.
You could certainly hire a jeep though.
Here’s a breakdown of the route:
- Start on the Bhaktapur–Dhulikhel route and head toward Namobuddha via Panauti.
- Take the downhill off-road path toward Dapcha.
- Along the way, you’ll see a diversion board (though I forgot to take a picture of it). This is on the road to Kot Kalika Temple.
Note: Google Maps won’t help you all the way, so you’ll need to figure out parts of the route yourself.
After spotting the diversion board, the path should be straightforward. There are two routes, and both will lead you to the Tindhare Homestay.

You can park your vehicle at Tindhare Homestay and start a short hike, which takes a maximum of 30 minutes.
Road Condition to Tindhare Homestay
The road up to Dapcha Bazaar is fully paved, offering a smooth ride.
However, after that, brace yourself for an adventurous off-road experience lasting about 45 minutes.
If you’re visiting after rainfall, exercise caution, as the path can be extremely slippery—especially in the final stretch.

So, I suggest visiting Tindhare Waterfall during the post-monsoon season when the trail is less muddy.
Note: There’s even a changing room near for those who get wet, but unfortunately, it’s in poor condition. Some visitors seem to have used it as a public toilet, which is disappointing.
Expected Budget
If you’re not planning to stay overnight, the trip becomes quite budget-friendly. That’s why we were able to complete the trip for under Rs. 500 per person!
Our expenses only included a water bottle, petrol, and snacks.
Believe it or not, we covered three spots in one day within this budget.
However, if you’re planning to stay, I recommend contacting Tindhare Homestay (which is quite popular on social media) before your visit.
Since we didn’t stay overnight, I can’t provide details about their package costs or services. But you can always check Google Reviews for more information!
Final Words
Without a doubt, Tindhare Jharana is one of the best weekend getaways for those of you living in Kathmandu.
Now that you’ve got all the necessary information, go ahead and plan a trip with your friends.
Have a fantastic time in Kavre, and don’t forget to tag us in your photos!
