Many visit Narayani River for its religious importance, after all, the seven tributaries of Sapta-Gandaki meet in Devghat, Chitwan.

Sharing My Narayani River Motorboat Experience

My office colleagues and I had planned a 1-day trip to Chitwan and had quite the joy we never expected.

We took an evening bus to Bharatpur and stayed in one of the hotels in Pulchowk after reaching here at 2 AM! Enjoyed the river and bridge view at night, which was stunning!

Then, we woke up the next morning and were greeted by–guess what? The bridge and the river yet again!

After a hearty breakfast, we headed to take some pictures on the riverside and just then were approached by a local photographer. One of my friends loved his service and took him along on our motorboat ride.

Note that you need to pay the fees in the motorboat ticket counter, which is run by a private company.

Don’t forget to wear a life jacket for safety!

Since our group comprised five people (six including the photographer), we got on the motorboat without having to wait much. The boat was a 10-seater, but around 12 people can fit in easily.

We strapped on our life jackets, ready for the adventure ahead. The boat operator showcased impressive skills, and the ride was a perfect escape, easing away all our office stress.

Well, due to time limitations, we had picked a short ride as we were in a hurry to reach Sauraha and even return to Kathmandu the same day.

The ride ended within 15 minutes, which I felt it was just too short. Also, we didn’t reach very far, just about a few hundred meters away from the Narayani Bridge.

Maybe the long ride would be more fun. Let me know if you try it out.

A friendly reminder: In case you too hire a photographer, make sure to negotiate properly before taking them on the ride. They charge you Rs. 10 for a photo and Rs. 20 for a video.

Is Motorboating in Narayani River Worth It?

Based on my experience, the ride is pretty fun for those who haven’t gone on many adventures.

Also, I would recommend it to anyone who is ready for a fast escape and just loves indulging themselves in new activities.

But if you’re a serious adventure seeker, you might not be fully satisfied.

Yet, for most of us, this is a must-to-do activity when you’re in Chitwan. Even from Kathmandu, you’re just about 6 hours away.

Since you’re not getting to ride the motorboat yourself, I wouldn’t personally call this an adventure.
