An adventure that sits on almost everyone’s bucket list is bungee jumping.
Come on! Even if you fear heights, you’ve got to try it at least once in your life, right?
Nepal might be globally known for trekking and its majestic mountains, but ever since bungee jumping was introduced here in 1999, it has become a hub for adventure lovers!
Even I finally ticked off this activity from my bucket list after taking the plunge at Kushma Bungee, riding all the way from Kathmandu to Parbat.
Offered by The Cliff Nepal, Kushma Bungee was once considered the second-highest bungee jump in the world. However, it now ranks THIRD after the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge Bungee and Macau Tower, both located in China.
Still, it proudly holds the title of being the highest bungee jump in Nepal.
Imagine leaping off a cliff that’s 228 meters high. You’ll feel that adrenaline rush through your veins!
I’m not kidding. Let me share my experience with you and give you my best tips if you’re planning to try bungee for the first time.
Note: Travel Nepal Today has not been sponsored by The Cliff in any way. The resort is the sole provider of this bungee jumping adventure in the Parbat district.

Kushma Bungee Booking & Price Details
There are plenty of ways to get in touch with The Cliff Resort to book your jump.
I personally visited their office in Lakeside, Pokhara, after a brief conversation on WhatsApp. You may do the same.
If you’re planning to book from Kathmandu, that’s also possible. They have a sales office in Thamel.
You can even book your jump directly at The Cliff Resort itself after reaching Kushma.
Personally, I took my own ride all the way. But for those wondering whether The Cliff offers a shuttle service: yes it does—from Lakeside, Pokhara.
Do note that the cost is Rs. 1,000 for a one-way trip, and you’ll need to be at the designated pickup point by morning (usually 7 AM).

The bungee jump price at The Cliff is NPR 8,000, which does not include videos, photos, or the complimentary T-shirt. For that, you’ll need to pay an extra Rs. 1,500, bringing the total to Rs. 9,500. You’ll need to pay the full amount up front.
Also worth noting: The Cliff offers its own luxury stay along with special packages, so you may want to check out their official website for more information.
For those wanting to relive the moment a second, third, or even multiple times—they offer a special package just for you!
There’s 50% off on your second jump, which is valid for one year. It’s clearly written on the card attached to your bravery certificate, which you receive after successfully experiencing bungee jumping in Nepal.
Is Bungee Jumping in Kushma Really Safe?
As scary as it may sound, bungee jumping in Kushma is actually very safe.
Think about it. There’s so much risk involved. One mistake, and the entire business model collapses. In fact, it could even impact the reputation of the entire nation!
The organizers simply cannot afford to take such a risk, and they’ve ensured top-level safety in every possible way.
Allow me to explain this in detail. And if you’re still curious about certain aspects, feel free to drop your questions in the comment section. I’ll be happy to help!
Your Safety First
Before you even take the jump, the staff asks multiple questions regarding any illnesses or prior injuries you may have.
In fact, when you book your bungee tickets, there’s a consent form you need to fill out.
What’s your duty? Make sure to share every piece of information related to your health with them. This way, you’ll be prepared in advance, and the crew will ensure you experience the safest jump possible.

Once again, before you proceed to the jump area, the staff will instruct you on all the important things you need to know before the jump.
You’re not even allowed to take your phone, cameras, or anything else in your pockets. It’s essential that you feel relaxed and comfortable during the jump.
So, your responsibility is to wear comfortable clothing, tight shoes, and come with a strong mindset. Remove all accessories and place them safely in the provided locker.
Don’t even carry the locker key. They’ll provide a box to keep it secure.
One concern worth mentioning is that they don’t have medically certified physicians on their team. So, my advice is to consult a doctor on your own beforehand, especially if you have any health concerns.
Use of Internationally Certified Gears
I’m not entirely sure about the specific certifications of the equipment used here. Nonetheless, The Cliff mentions on their website that they use internationally certified gear.
From what I’ve observed, they use braided shock cords for the jump, along with a proper waist harness, ankle harnesses, carabiners, and blockers. All of this ensures that there’s no chance of falling off under any circumstance.
Still, it would be great if they provided more detailed information about the gear on their website for full transparency.
A Responsible Crew

You’re definitely not going to jump off the bridge without proper guidance, right?
There’s an entire team in place that takes care of the process. This rigorous coordination is what makes this adventure sport more trustworthy.
The Jump Masters and Jump Operators are working every second to ensure that jumpers are relaxed, properly briefed, and follow every procedure with care.
A Proper Training
Before you’re geared up, one of the crew members conducts a special class that walks you through the complete process of bungee jumping.
I had memorized it so many times that, even after months, I still remember it by heart:

- Make sure the gear fitted by the Jump Operator is tight and secure. Let them know immediately if you feel any discomfort.
- Wait for your turn and stay seated until you’re called to the cliff.
- Carefully place your feet—half in the air.
- When jumping, push yourself forward as much as you can.
- Keep your arms wide open throughout the jump.
- After the third rebound, pull the feet’s release cord. It’s red in color (though this may change).
- In case you forget, make sure to keep your ears open. The Jump Master will blow a whistle.
- Once you’re in an upright position, wait for the pull-up cord to come down.
- Sometimes, the pull-up cord may land around your neck. Be sure to remove that first.
- There’s a hook that needs to be attached to your waist. Do this very carefully, and make sure to double-check.
- Send a signal by widening your arms (or whatever the team has instructed you).
- Keep your arms wide up until they pull you up or until asked to hold onto the rope.
Regular Technical Checkups
No matter how certified the gear is, these are man-made tools and equipment. And anything man-made can wear out or fail over time, right?
Well, to ensure such accidents never occur, the operators inspect every piece of gear before, during, and after each bungee session.
This means that before you even wear the gear or hang on the cord, everything has already been carefully checked.
In fact, even the bridge itself undergoes a special inspection every single morning. So, don’t be frustrated if your jump gets delayed. It’s all in the name of safety!
Postponed During Bad Weather
Speaking of delays, the weather in the early morning (especially during the monsoon season) can be unpredictable. In such situations, no risks are taken at all!
Until there’s clear visibility and no stormy weather, your bungee jump will be delayed.
They might push your jump to the next day, and if that’s not convenient for you, they’ll offer a 100% refund in such rare cases.
Sharing My Bungee Experience at The Cliff Nepal
I’m excited to write this part! For those of you having second thoughts about doing the bungee, hear me out.
Basically, my trip to Parbat included a stop at Aina Pahara, two nights in Pokhara, a night in Kushma, and, of course, my first-ever bungee jump.
My story should help you easily plan your own trip in a similar fashion.
The First Night in Pokhara

We stayed in Pokhara for the first night after our accident in Dumre, Tanahun. Thank God it only resulted in minimal damage to my motorcycle, and most importantly, none of us were injured.
The cause? Missing diversion boards!
It wasn’t just us. A few months later, a bus carrying 20 passengers heading to Damauli also met with an accident. I predicted something bad would happen, and it did.
While other sections of the Prithvi Highway had proper signboards, there weren’t any in Dumre. The authorities really need to take action regarding this.
Bungee Boooking & Stay in Parbat
My friend and I wanted to do the jump the following day. However, it was the peak season for bungee (in November), so we only got a date for the day after.
Rather than staying another night in Pokhara, we decided to head straight to Parbat. And boy, did we make a good decision!
Travel Tip: Stop at Lumle for some local coffee when riding along the Pokhara-Baglung Highway. It’s really good! It reminded me of the time when two of us stopped a bus just to get coffee (really funny story).
While you can opt for a stay at The Cliff Resort itself, that might not be the best option for budget-friendly travelers like you and me.

There are plenty of local to mid-range stays around that you can explore. I’ll be putting together a guide on the best hotels in Kushma soon, so stay tuned!
While we enjoyed exploring Kushma Bazaar, we were eager to walk across that beautiful bridge lit up at night. That’s when we found out you had to pay Rs. 500 just to walk across.
We tried negotiating with the staff, claiming that we had our bungee jumps booked for the next day. However, they clearly denied us and advised to come back early the next morning. Wasn’t very satisfied with that!
That Early Morning Dopamine Hit
We were excited from the night before, so the morning felt pretty intense. I had those mixed feelings. All thanks to the release of adrenaline, dopamine, endorphins, and cortisol.
A study claims that after a bungee jump, there’s an increase of more than 200% in beta-endorphin immunoreactivity. This is likely the factor for that intense feeling of euphoria.
We wanted to be the first jumpers and, sure enough, we were the first of three in the queue.
However, our bungee jump got delayed due to some technical issues, making us wait even longer. And with that, the mixed feelings of fear and excitement were off the charts.

We were weighed, and our hands were marked with our body weights. Just like how they do with potato sacks.
It felt as though we, the potato sacks, were about to be dropped off from The Cliff. Funny, but scary.
Finally, when our turn came, we thought we’d be the first ones to jump. However, the Jump Masters had other plans.
Turns out they arrange the ropes based on our body weight. So, we, along with 15 other potato sacks in the training room, were categorized into different weight groups.
And since neither of us was the heaviest, we had to wait for our turn.
We even met a Dutch-Swiss friend who was doing his sixth jump. By the time our turn came, he had completed his bungee and had even gone for the Swing!

3, 2, 1 Bungee!
Our bungee was scheduled for 8 AM, but somehow, it got pushed to 11 AM. By then, my heart was already in my mouth.
There was proper training, as I mentioned earlier, and I memorized everything along the way.
Since I wanted to make the perfect Instagram Reel, I even made sure they captured all my videos. But when my turn finally came, I somehow forgot everything.
The Jump Master had repeatedly told me not to look down, but how could I not? I was standing at THE CLIFF, 228 meters above the Kali Gandaki gorge.
Tons of questions started running through my head. What if that cord or rope breaks? (There was a similar incident in Africa and one in Thailand), What happens if I faint midway? Or What if I can’t hook that pull-up rope?
Yet, there I was. Legs tied, taking baby steps to reach the jump point, gazing continuously at the Kali Gandaki River below. The countdown began.
3, 2, 1 bungee… And I jumped!

Not the Perfect Jump: Here Are My Tips
My jump was below average. Fault? My fear and overthinking.
I was supposed to fly, but I ended up going straight down.
I’d practiced at home to make that perfect jump. But, perhaps, it wasn’t my day. Traveling sometimes leaves you disappointed.
Though I knew I hadn’t nailed the jump despite the Jump Masters showing full support, I was a bit disappointed after watching the video.
Tip #1: Never look down before the jump! Your confidence will just sweep away.
I started with my eyes closed but opened them up eventually, and there I was… upside down!
My nostrils and ears popped open. It was incredibly refreshing. I had my arms wide open, just like they told me.
I kept mumbling, “Majja aayo yar! Majja aayo!” The experience of freefall was exactly what I came for.

Well, I had memorized pulling the cord on the third rebound. But, in the heat of the moment, I completely forgot.
All I knew was there was a whistle from above, signaling it was time. The bungee jump barely lasted three minutes.
Tip #2: Don’t panic and pull the release cord before the time! Just let it be and wait for the signal from above. You’ll be just fine.
I pulled the release cord and hung there, hoping the rope wouldn’t snap.
By this time, I’d completely forgotten about the camera mounted on my hand, so I didn’t even look at it. Something I still regret.
Tip #3: While waiting for the pull-up rope, don’t forget to speak to the camera.
After the jump was over, my fear of not being able to hook the rope was killing me. It took nearly a minute to do so, though it was very simple, by the way.
I was pulled up, and the Jump Masters were clearly disappointed with my jump. They asked me to relax to prevent jerky movements.
Post Bungee Activities

After completing the bungee jump, we were allowed to tour the luxurious resort. And of course, we took full advantage of that!
It would have been great to have breakfast there, but by the time we finished, it was almost noon. We had to head back to our hotels to check out.
We returned to the reception to grab our ‘Certificate of Bravery.’ It was definitely a brave act, and we totally deserved it.
As for the photos and videos, we were told they’d be sent within 24 hours. However, the service was surprisingly quick. We received the email before we even made it back to Pokhara.
After reflecting on the bungee jump all night and celebrating with a few bottles of beer, we made our way home the next day.
Is Bungee Jumping in Nepal Worth The Price?
So, having read through my story, does it feel worth it to take the leap?
Let me warn you. Bungee jumping isn’t for the faint of heart. If you get there and chicken out, sorry, but your money won’t be refunded!
That’s one way to look at it. For me, paying Rs. 9500 for a single jump while risking my life versus the same amount for 4-5 days of trekking, I’d definitely choose the latter any day.
I’ll be honest. The price for bungee in Kushma is on the higher side for Nepali folks like us. Maybe Rs. 4000 to 5000 would have been more reasonable.
But we have to consider the safety equipment used, the constant effort to ensure this adventure sport stays safe, the impact it’s had on promoting Nepal’s tourism, and benefiting the local community in Kushma.
On a personal note, the stress I had earlier from the motorcycle accident? The jump helped ease that.
And above all, my confidence shot through the roof.
That certificate of bravery wasn’t just for show. It’s a constant reminder that adventure activities can push you beyond your limits.
For those with a fear of heights, this could be the perfect opportunity to conquer it.
So, if you’re seeing this as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, go for it! Trust me, it’s much better than regretting not having leaped.
Would I go again? Absolutely, if The Cliff team reads this blog and invites me back! :p
Other Activities in Kushma, Parbat
What I’d definitely try next time is the SWING. It’s similar to bungee jumping but with a bit of a twist.
Aside from the bungee jump, Kushma has a variety of other thrilling activities to offer. Some are available at The Cliff itself, while others can be enjoyed at nearby resorts.
Here’s a list of what you can do:
- Swing Jump

- Crazy Bridge
- Family Swing
